How do I convert a Microsoft Works (.wps) file to Word (.doc)?

The Microsoft Help and Support page provides detailed information on converting Works files to Word files. Below are instructions taken from the Microsoft site.

To open a Works 6.0, Works 7.0, Works 8.0, or Works 9.0 word processing document in Word, follow these steps:

1. Start Word.
2. On the File menu, click Open.
3. In the Open dialog box, follow these steps:
a. Change the Look in box to the location of your Works word processing document.
b. In the Files of type box, click the version of Works that you are running.

Note If you are using Microsoft Word 2007, click All Files (*.*).
c. Select the Works word processing document (.wps) that you want to open, and then click Open.

If you do not have Word on your computer use the Works 6.0 Converter for Works and Word Users.
