This page aims to provide all of the information you need to get started with technology at Edison College.

For All Employees

myEdison Portal & Email

  • What is the myEdison Portal?
    • The myEdison Portal is the single point of interaction with all things related to Edison College. The myEdison Portal provides access to diverse information and processes, personalized to a user’s role as faculty, student, or staff. Among the resources available through the myEdison Portal are email, registration and courses, event calendar, personal calendar, Banner, group tools, and more.

  • When will I be able to access the myEdison Portal?
    • Answering the questions when you follow the Click Here for Help link on the myEdison login page will let you know when you will be able to access the myEdison portal. In general, for full time faculty and staff it will be after HR Orientation. For Adjunct Faculty it will be after HR has received all required paperwork from your department.

  • Accessing email
    • Your email address will be your myEdison Portal login name followed by @edison.edu. You can access your email through the portal or with an external application such as Mozilla Thunderbird.

Software Licensing

  • The College has licensing agreements with Microsoft and other software vendors for free or reduced cost software for home use, including Windows and Office. For a complete list of software available to employees see the Software Licensing page or visit Lee S-142.

Telephone

  • Your telephone number
    • Full time faculty and staff will be assigned a phone number, adjunct faculty will be assigned an extension for voicemail upon request. For more information, contact your department and see the For assistance section below.
  • How do I find someone's phone number?
  • For assistance with Placing Calls, Telephone Features,and Accessing Voicemail click on the ? icon on the Staff and Faculty Directory page.

Getting Technology Help

  • Call the Technology Help Desk
    • 1-866-818-4243 or ext. 1202
    • Assistance over the phone or submission of a ticket to someone on site.

    • Training is available on a wide variety of topics, generally during hour-long workshops.

For Faculty

Getting Started

  • Accessing my classes
    • Log in to the myEdison Portal (see above for more info), click on the Faculty Academics tab, you should see a link to each one of your classes. Students have a nearly identical Student Academics tab where they see their classes.
  • Emailing my students
    • Once you click on the link to your class (see above for more info), click Email, check the box to Select All, write your message, click Send. See demo.
  • Sharing files or other materials with students
    • Once you click on the link to your class (see above for more info), click Manage Files, browse to upload a file from your computer. Students will be able to access the files by clicking the link to the course and going to Files.
  • Attendance Verification
    • A couple of weeks into each semester you will need to verify which students are actually attending class for financial aid purposes. You will be sent an email informing you when to complete the attendance verification. The verification is done through the Faculty/Staff Services tab on the myEdison Portal. Click the blue ? next to Attendance Verification on that page for instructions.
  • Entering Grades
    • After final exams you will need to enter grades through the Faculty/Staff Services tab of the myEdison portal. Click the blue ? next to Grade Entry on that page for instructions. Check the Academic Calendar for grade entry deadlines.
  • Creating Course Materials
    • Several tools are available to assist with the creation of course materials. See the WebCT Help channel on the Faculty Academics tab of the myEdison portal for access to the Faculty WebCT site.

Classroom Technology

  • What technology is available in my classroom?
  • What if I need equipment that isn't normally in the classroom?
    • You can request special equipment for your classroom by submitting a Help Desk ticket.
  • How to work the equipment in the classrooms
  • If the equipment isn't working
    • If you need the equipment for class either call the Help Desk and inform them that there is an interruption in class or call the Classroom Down Hotline: Lee - 1074, Charlotte - 5620, Collier - 3119, Hendry/Glades - 6005
    • If the issue is not critical, call or email the Help Desk or report it on the Technology Resources site
