Creating
Question Sets
Slide 1
1.Select the Build tab. |
Slide 2
2. Select the Assessments tool. 3. From the Assessments screen, select the
assessment in which you want to include randomized questions. |
Slide 3
The following steps enable you to select
questions that will become a question set. Then you’ll indicate how many of
the questions should be randomly selected for each assessment (e.g. the set
contains 10 questions and only 5 are selected randomly each time the
assessment is given to a student). |
Slide 4
4. Select the Add to Assessment button. 5. From the button options, select Question Set. |
Slide 5
In the Show area (top right), select the Question
View button to see all questions in the Question Database. Or if the
questions you want to add to a set are already visible you can stay in
Category View. |
Slide 6
7. If you selected Question View, you may see multiple
pages of questions and need to change the Page option at bottom right to All
and click the Go icon. This reveals all the questions in the database at
once. |
Slide 7
If you prefer to view only questions within a
certain category, select the Category View button in the Show area and then
expand the category (select the + in front of the category name). |
Slide 8
8. With the desired list of questions visible,
select the check boxes that precede all the questions you want included in the
set. The questions for a randomized assessment will be
drawn from the selected questions that comprise this question set. 9. Select the Add Selected button at bottom left. |
Slide 9
Questions that are already part of an assessment
cannot be chosen when adding the set but they can be moved into the set once
the set is created. |
Slide 10
After you “Add Selected”, You’ll find a Question
Set added to your assessment. The questions within it will be indented. Connector
lines indicate each question’s inclusion in the set. |
Slide 11
Notice the Select drop-down list box that appears
in the column following the set title. 10. Select the number of questions from the set
that you want randomly delivered. |
Slide 12
Following the Select drop-down list is a text box
where you type the number of points to be awarded for a correct answer. 11. Type the number of available points for each
question in the text box. |
Slide 13
You’ll find the multiplication symbol (x) between
the Select drop down list and the Points text box, indicating the total
points available for the set will be the number of questions delivered times
the points you assign for each question. As an example: 5 questions delivered
times (x) 2 points each equals 10 points possible for the set (5 x 2 = 10). |
Slide 14
After setting the number of questions to deliver
from the set and establishing the number of points, you’ll need to select the
Update Total button at the bottom of the set to generate a new total for the
quiz. |
Slide 15
There’s yet another way to generate a question
set. This process works if you have a question already in an assessment but want
to select alternatives for that question in the assessment. The alternative
questions do not need to be comparable or on the same topic; this process
simply takes an existing question in an assessment, adds it to a new set
you’ll define, and lets you select other questions to be included in the new
question set. |
Slide 16
13. Open an assessment from the Assessments
screen. |
Slide 17
14. Select the check box for the question that
you want added to the set. |
Slide 18
15. Select the Add Question Alternates button
along the bottom and the Question Database screen appears. |
Slide 19
By default, you’ll see that the Category View is
visible. Each entry in the table under the Title column is a different category
of questions. |
Slide 20
16. Select the + icon in front of the category
name that you want to expand and you’ll see all the questions in that
category. |
Slide 21
17. With all the questions listed, select the check
box that precedes any question that you’d like to add to the set. |
Slide 22
18. Select the Add Selected button at the bottom
of the screen. |
Slide 23
Now you have a new set that includes one question
that was already in the assessment and one or more new additions. |
Slide 24
Question sets make it possible for you to have
assessments that include randomly generated questions. Now you know two ways
to create a question set to use in your quizzes, self tests and surveys. |
