Blackboard Learning System Campus Edition 6.0 (CE6) is a significant upgrade to WebCT 4.0. The increase in technical requirements, along with the short time frame for conversion and implementation led to the decision to have our courses hosted by Blackboard. The portal integration will remain the same. Students and faculty will log in to the portal, click on the academics tab and access their classes. Faculty will still have the option to use the portal tools or to use CE6. Those wishing to use CE6 will be required to complete training, as specified by the e-Learning committee.
There are many enhancements and functions that will be available to faculty. Some of the features are:
- Allows multiple instructors in a course (each with their own id)
- Date Roll forward – allows instructors to easily move a course from semester to semester
- Class roster tool
- My Settings: Customize colors and look of course
- No longer have to update the student view on content changes
- Freeze columns and scroll in grade book – no longer lose the name fields when the number of columns is too large for the screen.
- Upload multiple files at once without having to zip first
- Allows non-graded assignments
- Three views: Designer, Instructor, Student. Instructors no longer need a student login to view the course as a student would see it.
